Jugoremedija

Documentary about the workers' struggle against the privatization of their company at Jugoremedija in Zrenjanin/Serbia during the transition period.

Key player and adversary of the workers is the new main shareholder Jovica Stefanovic, cigarette smuggler and former staff member of Marko Milosevic and Smiljko Kostic. When the workers and small shareholders of Jugoremedija appointed their own management on March 1, 2007, they were the only company administered by workers and small shareholders in this part of the world.

Today, the main protagonist of the film, union secretary Zdravko Deuric, is the general manager of Jugoremedija. During his time in office, more than 10 million Euros were invested into the conversion of production facilities and the European GMP certificate, in the midst of the financial crisis. This investment was the reason for the Serbian state to sell its 42-percent-parcel of shares to Jovica Stefanovic. Stefanovic was arrested in early 2011.
