Democracy in Egypt: A Question of Legitimacy

The film explains the social and economic conditions that lead to the uprising in Egypt. It shows the specific role of wildcat-strikes in the textile industry of Mahalla after 2006. Although President Mubarak had to step down in Febrary 2011, the uprising is not finished.

In November 2011, just before the elections, more than 10,000 people staged large demonstrations again, demanding the resignation of the transitional government. Many spent the night on Tahrir Square again. The demonstrators were violently attacked by the police. The protests lasted six days, 60 people were killed, thousands injured.
